Heroes Wings was founded in 2025 after the families of two A-26 bomber crews, who crashed near each other in Germany in March 1945, came together to retrace the final days of their loved ones. The website was initially created to document this journey, but has since evolved into a platform for the non-profit charitable foundation Heroes Wings Inc., dedicated to supporting families whose loved ones are still missing.

This website not only shares the story of the foundation’s origins but also chronicles its ongoing missions. Heroes Wings, Inc. is committed to offering HOPE, EDUCATING others about available resources, helping to LOCATE the missing, and PRESERVING the memory of military service members who are recovered.

Our Beginnings

The documentary Homecoming was the initial catalyst that inspired the founders to create Heroes Wings. Our first mission is documented through our journey to France, the Netherlands, and Germany. You will find it under the Missions tab:

Sgt. Hamilton’s Long Journey

The next documentary, titled Place of Honor, filmed on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, takes us behind the scenes into the science and sacrifice involved in the search and recovery process for America’s 80,000 Missing in Action (MIA). We’ll meet the exceptional people working under the harshest conditions to find, identify, and return the fallen to home soil and to their waiting families – closing generations-long holes in the family tree and delivering a powerful message of honor, remembrance, and humanity for future generations.

The film also follows a group of descendants as they retrace their ancestors’ courageous final footsteps through Europe in the closing months of the war.  Their journey to the places where their fallen relatives served and ultimately died represents another level of closure beyond the repatriation ceremonies and funerals that normally mark the final chapter of these stories.  Place of Honor is a tribute to the heroes of yesterday and today–those who died and those who bring them home–and to the generations of family who show us that how we honor our MIAs still matters today as much as ever.

Details about the film’s release will be communicated soon.
